These two Martin Mars float planes, the Martin JRM-1 "Philippine" Mars, and the Martin JRM-1 "Hawaii" Mars, were used during World War II and still fly today as massive firefighting water bombers at Sproat Lake on Vancouver Island, British Columbia, Canada. These two planes are well suited for firefighting because of their large wings which make them extremely efficient at moving massive loads (up to 1,000,000 liters/265,000 gallons) of water.
