Lobsterman Frank Tomkiewicz taking a skiff out to his lobster boat in the waters off of Fairhaven, MA. When a lobster boat is kept on a mooring instead of tied at a dock or pier the fishermen need to use a skiff (preferably equipped with an outboard engine instead of just oars for rowing) in order bring gear and bait out to the boat and then to bring in the catch at the end of the day.
